The new JM Cardesign BMW Z4

JM Cardesign tries to update the previous generation BMW Z4 with the current generation's bodywork.

JM Cardesign, the German automobile tuners, has just introduced a new BMW Z4 styling package for the previous generation E85 model. The new package takes bodywork from the current E89 generation model, adds new staggered BMW wheels, and upgrades the suspension and interior.

The front of the older BMW has been refreshed with the new styling components directly from the new model. The front grille and bumper from the current generation Z4 were installed after modifications were made to the bonnet, headlamps, and mud guard covers at the fascia. The fenders above each rear concave wheel were extended to give the Z4 a more aggressive look. The staggered BMW wheels and new side skirts lend to an updated appearance. The side skirts also have air inlets that help cool the brakes for improved performance. At the rear, JM Cardesign has extended the bodywork to match the larger fenders. The antenna of the old Z4 was removed from the passenger side rear mud guard and fitted inside of the rear bumper. For convenience and style, JM Cardesign has installed new LED lighting in the shape of BMW logos inside the door handles, side indicator lights, and side mirrors. After all of the modifications were made, the once silver Z4 was taken to the in-house paint shop and given a solid black paint.

Compared to the current generation, the old Z4 is outdated in terms of power and handling. For a couple of extra horsepower and a better sound, JM Cardesign installed a new Eisenmann 76 millimeter double pipe muffler at the rear. The updated Z4 wears a unique concave wheel at each corner that adds a styling and handling advantage. The staggered BMW wheels are fitted in 9 x 20 front and 11 x 20 rear setup with 245/30 R20 front and 285/25 R20 rear Dunlop Sport Maxx high performance tires for unrelenting grip. Each concave wheel is brought closer to the chassis thanks to an optimized suspension upgrade. The three thread KW suspension gives drivers the chance to adjust height, pressure, and tensile dampening for the best handling setup for a given track.

The interior of the older BMW E85 Z4 Roadster has been given slight updates by JM Cardesign. The cover of the dashboard, steering wheel spokes, entrance bars, and gear shift knob were all repainted in the same solid black color as the exterior.

JM Cardesign currently offers the update for the previous generation BMW Z4, but has not released the pricing details.
