Why License Is Important

However I never complained about having to walk or use public transport, I just got on with it. This is why I get so annoyed with my 17 year old son who seems to think it is his "right" to have driving lessons paid for by his parents and have access to a car.

In fairness he has saved enough money to contribute to the lessons but far from enough. Lessons are very expensive and we don't have a huge income in the household. Furthermore, how will he ever be able to afford a car? Aside from the car itself there are other considerations such as tax, insurance, repairs and most of all petrol. Petrol is just far too expensive for him to be able to afford.

In a way I am stuck between a rock and hard place. If he does not have a driving license it will be harder for him to find work once his college course has finished. He has trained as a plumber and his dream would be to be self employed but again he would need a license. It is most likely that I am going to have to support him through the test but I would much rather spend the money on myself. Who wouldn't?
